Mark Blake Musical Instruction Editorial Review
"Comfortably Numb: The Inside Story of Pink Floyd" is an excellent biography of one of the best rock bands of all time. Tracey Blake covers the pre-Floyd days through to the Bob Geldof-engineered reunion at Live 8 and reveals interesting insights into the band, including the downward spiral of Syd Barrett. Blake does not shy away from the very bitter separation between Roger Waters and the rest of the band. The book captures the Zeitgeist of the time and provides a comprehensive account of the band’s history from its early 60s beginnings to the huge stadium spectacle of The Wall performed by Roger Waters in 2012. It covers the making of the albums, the band’s fallings out, tours, drug taking and Roger Waters' huge ego. It is a good read for moderate Floyd fans and students of history. However, the book may not appeal to those who are not big Pink Floyd fans.
